April round up
WJTI Schools Mini Tennis League
The only schools based Mini Tennis
competition in Surrey held its Finals
Day on 12th April.
All schools and players who have represented
their schools were invited with the
following sending players:
Wimbledon Chase
Wimbledon Park
Bishop Gilpin
Putney High
St John Fisher
The final took place with Group A
winners St. John Fisher beating the
Group B winners, Bishop Gilpin in a
very enjoyable and competative final.
All the players took part in LTPD games
and competitions with even the parents
joining in before a tour of the Club. Congratulations
to all who took part and to all the
teachers who helped organise teams.
We are hoping to extend the League
to more schools starting from September
2007.
This month we also have two articles
for the WJTI website by one of the
players. Lila is 9 years old
and is one of the WJTI performance
players and plays four times a week. She
has represented Surrey at Under 10
level and last year was selected to
attend one of the LTA's National Training
Camps with two other WJTI players. >PLEASE

Cartledge beat 6 boys to win
the Orange Mini Tennis Event at Grafton
Park Tennis Club on 31st March
Gemma Southwick came runner up
in the Orange Mini Tennis Event
at Weybridge Tennis Club on 1st
April
The boys’ event
was won by Nicholas Stansby
who started at WJTI just before
his 4th birthday.

his matches at the weekend

Elizabeth Nyenwe: Runner Up Under 16
at Wilton
Evelina Belevich: Winner Under 10 in
Kingston
Josh Whiteman: Winner Mens Super Series
Grade 3 Event, rating moved up to 4.2
Jasmine Asghar: Winner Ariel Under
10 in Luton.

The WJTI Schools Mini
League is a Red Level team competition
for schools. This is the only schools
competition in the country for this
age group. We have nine teams competing
and all will play at Wimbledon on the
